Pink Wednesday! Color Club Hot. Like. Lava.

Woo I'm so bad at keeping up with Pink Wednesday, but it just so happens I had a pink swatch for this week!

Sooo I thought since I had such luck with the Color Club Cold Metal from the Foil'd collection, that I'd reach into my "selling" pile and use Hot Like Lava. 

I don't often do that, but I haven't had much traffic to the blog sale page lately, and I'd been eying it in the basket for a while so I thought I'd try it. 

This is two coats of Hot Like Lava:

Overall, I loved the application and the formula...but I just don't know how I feel about metallics/foils.  I loved the blue, but I think I'll put this back on the sale page as used 1x.  It is a pretty color, I just don't see myself wearing it, and I still do a decent amount of clean up and the metals don't clean up as well as creams.  SO if any of you ladies have been looking for this (or any of the other CC foils), check out my blog sale, hah.  I hear they're good for stamping, which almost makes me want to keep them...but I don't do that too often either, since I'm so bad at it :)

Pink Wednesday! DS Couture!

I haven't done Pink Wednesday in forever!

Sorry to all my other PW ladies...I just get so caught up with work, I'm lucky if I can blog at all!  It happened that I had time to review a new pink polish TODAY for Pink Wednesday!  Weee!

This is another DS polish I picked up at my favorite dusty salon!  It's called DS Couture and it's got a subtle, beautiful holo to it!

I really like this!  I'm so glad I found it and could add it to my DS collection :)  The lid looks like they had spilled nail polish remover on it or something...but that's okay!  I think since the lid was messed up was the reason it was marked to $4!  It was pretty full.  Anywho it went on smooth in three coats and has a subtle pink linear holo to it.

I don't know why I'm so drawn to pink holos!  I think that's what most of my holo polishes are.  I only have 2 or 3 other colors, hah!

Anyway--have you guys seen this polish before, or own it yourselves?  I'm in love!

Pink Wednesday! Burst Crackle!

I know I've been kind of double posting lately, but I didn't have as much time to swatch before I went out of town as I'd liked.  Oh well!

Anyway for today's pink Wednesday I decided to try my pink Burst Crackle polish called Shimmering Heat OVER Revlon's Grapefruit Fizz from yesterday's post!  I thought since it was so translucent I'd add crackle to it and I thought the opposing pinks would look neat.

However since the pinks ended up being kind of similar it ended up looking like some sort of scaly pink snake skin, I can't really decide if I like it or not.  In person unless you look close it just looked textured, but you can see in the pics that it's scaly looking!

Overall I was REALLY satisfied with the Burst crackle!  I didn't use it until now because when I swatched it on a nail wheel it SUCKED, but it worked pretty good in person!  It went on very easily and I didn't have a hard time getting the perfect coat thickness for it to crackle nicely.  I also have a purple one and next time I go to the supply store I think I'll get orange if they still have it :)

Pink Wednesday! Essie Watermelon :)

Happy Wednesday, friends!  I leave for Texas tomorrow, so I probably will not be as responsive as normal for the next week or so.  I will have my phone and maybe my laptop, but I plan on being pretty busy! 
I hope you all are having a great week so far!  This week I have a pink to show you from Essie called Watermelon!  I love this color and I was lemming for it for a long time!  Luckily I got it from Traci's Blog Sale!

Up close...eep I see bubbles!

Sooo sometimes I have some issues with Essie formula as they are often thinner than I prefer, but this one worked great.  I needed 3 coats for it to become opaque and I actually enjoy their smaller brush.  From the looks of this last picture it appeared that there was some slight bubbling on my thumb nail, but I did not notice it in person.  Chances are it was my fault because I leave nearly zero dry time in between my coats because I'm impatient!   

Anyhow, I really like this pink and I've been wanting it forever, so I'm glad I bought it!  I feel like I may have a dupe of it in my collection somewhere...if I find it I'll let you all know :)

Pink Wednesday! CG Hyper Haute (+ epic disaster)

Soooo I got China Glaze Hyper Haute in a swap a while back and was so excited...however I haven't tried it until now!

Verdict: I LOVE it!  It's not as "holographic" as I had hoped but it's still gorgeous nonetheless.  However, I did have an epic disaster after applying this polish...I tend to not screw my lids on all the way until I'm done and was in a rush to leave the house after doing my nails.  I went to pick it up to put it away and since the lid wasn't on completely it fell onto the floor and rolled allllll around the bathroom pretty much spilling everywhere :( I must've emptied at least half of this polish!  Bummer sauce.  I also smudged my thumb and got it all over my hands while trying to clean it up. Epic fail.

I was running out the door, like I said, so I didn't get many pictures of this, but I wanted to show you all for Pink Wednesday!!

Not only was I happy about the color of THIS polish, I was thrilled that it's a 2-coater!  Those are always great :)  Not to mention, like most holo polishes, this one dried pretty quickly!  So great formula + 2 coater = SO mad I spilled so much of this, hah!

Did you guys pick up any other polishes from the CG Tronica collection?  This is the only one I've got...I saw Mega Bite at a supply store the other day and passed on it because it was pretty ugly in person, haha!

Pink Wednesday! OPI Nice Stems Collection **Picture Heavy**

Welll hello ladies!  I'm floored by the amount of entries to my giveaway that I've received so far!  I have nearly half of the amount of entries I had total for my last giveaway and it's only been 3 days! 

Sorry for my lack of posting--I've been overwhelmed with job paperwork and also I've been out of the house a lot.  I'll try and swatch this weekend and have posts scheduled for later in July because I'm going to be gone a week for a wedding and house hunting--and then my boyfriend and I will be moving to Knoxville at the end of July for my job!!  So exciting, but I'm also soo nervous!  SO if any of you all live around Knoxville and know of some good places to buy polish, please let me know :)

Went into Five Below to pick up their new Funky Fingers collection and ended up paying more than I thought 'cause their shatter polishes aren't in their normal 3 for $5...then I found the Nice Stems collection at my local supply store! Weee!

I couldn't wait to try Be a Dahlia Won't You, so I whipped it out last night, and I love it.  I apologize for the amount of pictures!  Also these pictures were taken as the sun was setting!

I really liked the formula of this polish!  It went on very smooth and easy--all the pics shown are with three coats.  You can still see some nail line when the sun's behind it, but it's all good and looked opaque in the shade!  

I then added I Lily Love You on top, and I loved this combo so much that I took a million pictures of it!  I waited until this morning to take more pics, though, so these are morning sun pictures, not sun setting pictures, so the color is much more accurate:

This is shown with 2 coats of I Lily Love You.  It's a pink holographic-like glitter with small glitter pieces and larger flakies.  I was on the fence about getting this one, but I'm really glad I did!  It's so interesting :)

Pink Wednesday! And Stylish Blogger Award!

Sorry for the late update today, I've been kind of busy and out of the house today.  I finally tried the China Glaze Rosita that was sent to me for review, and I thought it'd be a good color for Pink Wednesday!  So I'll show you some pics first and later I'll show you the award I was tagged for!

So I have mixed feelings on this polish.  The color is fabulous.  It's a pretty, bright pink that I think would look nice with nearly any skin tone, but I had some trouble with the formula.  Normally China Glaze has a great formula, but this one was pretty watery.  I had trouble with the first coat of my left hand and didn't get things to apply smoothly until after I started using really thin coats.  Since I had to do that I ended up needing 4 coats to get this polish opaque without any spots/holes.  I wish I would've realized that from the start 'cause I tried to smear it on thick and ended up with a wonky pinky nail.

It wasn't as bad as when I tried Butter London's Teddy Girl, but still frustrating.  I didn't need too much clean-up though.  Despite it being thinner than normal CG formulas, it didn't flood my cuticles too bad.  Has anyone else tried this with similar issues?

It's such a good "pink pink" polish that I'll be keeping it and will definitely use it in the future, I'm just glad I know now to use really thin coats first!

Pink Wednesday! Double Post--Fuschiamania + Nail Art!

Hellllo pretties!  I'm back from DC and today I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone.

A few weeks ago Amanda at Ha Bisky! Nails tagged me for a Pick 3 Challenge where you pick three polishes at random from your stash and create something with them.  Luckily, I picked a pink!  I ended up with China Glaze Thataway, Funky Fingers Ectoplasmic and Ulta Fuschiamania:

It got dark as I was doing this so this is inside with a flash, sorry!  Actually I picked Julep Gloria instead of the pink first, but when I looked at it next to the CG polish they were too similar so I tried again...cheater!  I was pretty psyched I got all bright colors though!

In honor of Pink Wednesday, here is Fuschiamania all by itself:

This is a fabulous pink.  When I take DS Tapestry off my toes this is going on them asap.  It is truly a one coater.  I used two to hit some spots a bit closer to my cuticles that I missed.  I LOVE how bright this dark pink is.  The formula was great.  Yet again I'm impressed by Ulta!

Anyway, so I decided to try a funky leopard print with these colors.  I suppose I cheated since I used my black nail art pen, but it seemed like the quickest thing to do and I still have to study for my math final tomorrow hehe.  Anyways, the base I left as Fuschiamania and the I dotted on Ectoplasmic and Thataway.  Only my second attempt at nail art...could be better but I like it okay!

I probably should've taken an up close pic of a different nail because the thumb doesn't look that great, but oh well.  I'll probably wear this til tomorrow or Friday.  It's different and bright!  The orange blends into the pink in these pics because of the flash, but it's a little bit more noticeable in person!

Well that's all for tonight, I need to study a bit.  I can't help to be unmotivated because this is the LAST thing I have before I'm done with my master's degree!  Weeee!  Graduation is Sunday but I'm not going because it's in Ohio Stadium...and it'll be like 95 degrees.  Pass on that nonsense, I went last year.  Also, my job situation is going to take a bit longer to get situated than I previously thought so I guess I'll have more time to blog...Optimism I guess?

Pink Wednesday! OPI DS Reserve :)

So I think I told you all that I chipped off my Memorial Day mani--this is what I wore instead!  It's not super patriotic, but I LOVED it.  It's such a gorgeous color in the sun.  It makes me want a bunch more of the OPI DS polishes, but they're just so expensive!  I'm on a no-buy right now because I realized yesterday I won't be getting anymore paychecks until I get a legit job :( 

But anyway, onto DS Reserve!

Wam! Look at that sparkle.  SO pretty!  I really love this polish.  I also really like the OPI brush.  I found that it's just wide enough to get my whole pinky nail in one swipe, which is handy.  This is three coats and it went on beautifully.

Double Pink Wednesday!! Ulta Polishes + Haul :)

Okay. So. I have a lot to say in this update.

I've reached 100 followers!!!! Woo hooo!!  I'm at 103--this is great!  I never ever thought in a million years that anyone would care or even read what I wrote here, so I'm SO beyond thrilled.  This makes me feel really good, guys, I appreciate each and every one of you and I love reading all your comments!

Now, I can finally tell you about my epic haul from last weekend!! Take a look:

Dum dum dum duuuummm!

So my BF Jenn sold me a bunch of Bath and Body Works stuff she had for super cheap!  I got two cute clip on air fresheners for my car, three lotions, a candle, two lip glosses, and some soap!  Then we hit up Ulta and I used two $5 off coupons, a 20% off coupon, the free ORLY coupon again and got all the polishes (Buy 2 get 2 free), and burt's bees stuff for $20!  Then I wanted to try the new Wet n Wild eye shadows so I stopped by CVS and got some of those.  

I stocked up on my pinks for Pink Wednesdays by getting the ORLY Oh Cabana Boy, and Ulta Fuschiamania, Princess, and Heirhead (seen L to R on the bottom left).  The rest of the stuff I'll tell you in the next post right after this 'cause all the stuff in the right is part of my GIVEAWAY!!! YAY!!!

BUT for now, onto Pink Wednesday :)

I decided to try out Ulta's Heirhead, the light pink one in the picture!  I really liked it.  This was my first time using a non-glitter Ulta polish and I was impressed.  For how cheap you can get them (Buy 2 get 2 free is an AWESOME deal...that's 4 for $10...and if you use a $5 off coupon, it's 4 for $5!!), the formula is quite good.  Anyway, check it out:

I really liked this!  It didn't compliment my skin tone too well but the color is nice anyway.  It'll be good later in the summer I think.  This is three coats!  I like how smooth and opaque the polish is, I probably could've done just two! 

Jenn came over today, too, and painted her nails with me!  She thought we could do a double Pink Wednesday and take some pics of hers too.  What she did was she combined the dark pink Ulta polish, Fuschiamania, with Zoya's Rica (Sunshine Collection)!  Looksie:

I like how it turned out.  Zoyas are pretty opaque for glitters and normally overtake a base color but this combo looks really good in person.  Rica looks really orange-y normally by itself, so with a dark pink base it really brings out the pink in it.  She's so creative :)  And I liked having someone to paint my nails with today, it's usually just me!

Oh, and those pics of Jenn's nails are 2 coats Fuschiamania (it went on really opaque, if you were running out the door, you could go with 1 coat and be okay), and 1 coat of Rica!

Like I said before--super impressed with the Ulta formula.  I didn't think the "generic" polishes were going to be that good, but the cheap ones have been impressing me for a while!  I still love Sinful Colors, and when they're on sale for 99 cents, I take advantage of it!
