Wet n Wild Eye Shadow Trios Review! Picture Heavy!

Okay SO let me show you the past two hauls I've gotten since my Giveaway Haul.  Let's not discuss the money aspect of it...

Five Below Haul #1
Okay one of the girls from the Polish-Aholics Anonymous Facebook group requested some of the Funky Fingers polishes, so I went out and got those for her and picked up this stuff while I was out!  Two Art Club polishes in white and red to attempt art with, Funky Fingers Baby Baby Baby (teal holo glitter), Funky Fingers Sand & Stilettos (Silver holo glitter), Funky Fingers Golden Coast (gold holo glitter), and Funky Fingers Down to Earth (Gold Metal).  All those along with three of the Wet n Wild eye shadow trios Don't Steal My Thunder, I Got Good Jeans, and Spoiled Brat.

Five Below and Ulta Haul #2
On Saturday I went back to Five Below and picked up three more of the Funky Fingers Holo Glitters (Baby Baby Baby, Sand & Stilettos, and Golden Coast), for swaps (Seriously guys, check my swap list if you want to trade for any/all of these).  And I also finally picked up ORLY Out of This World and OPI DS Reserve!  AH.  They're both so awesome.  DS Reserve will be my Pink Wednesday post this week.  It's gorgeous.

I guess I should also mention I chipped off my blue ruffian before Memorial Day so I didn't add anything to it, but it's all gravy.  What I'm here to talk about today is eye shadows!  I've tried two of the Wet n Wild trios so far: Walking on Eggshells (from Giveaway haul) and I Got Good Jeans!  There are a shit ton of pictures of these, just a warning :)

Walking On Eggshells

Beige and Brown Trio (This is the product picture from google)
Here's mine...already been used :)

Swatched on my hand...this is also outdoor sunny lighting!

Before the application pics I just want to say that I really loved this trio when I saw it in the store.  Initially I heard about these at Nouveau Cheap, although the one that I really wanted that she swatched was Go for the Gold, so I'm still on the lookout for that one!  But this one is still very pretty, too.  It's pretty subtle and natural so this is what I've been wearing for my everyday look since I got it.

Now I'm not super great at putting on eye shadow.  I have tried every type of brush but I still have a hard time blending!  Do you guys have any brush recommendations?  Honestly, for both sets of trios I've just been using the brushes it came with because I don't see a point in anything else since they all work about the same for me.  I'm willing to try anything new, though!  These colors all work really well and blend together nicely, though, which is why after buying this one, I went out and bought three more :)  And they're only $2.99!!

Anyway, in the pics above I have it pictures with Lorac liquid eyeliner and a combination of mascaras...I think probably Buxom Mascara and Maybelline Define a Lash Waterproof in Black.  They were taken inside, but next to the window so it's like half outdoor lighting.  I really like this for everyday wear!

I Got Good Jeans
Also, I went OUT the other night and decided to try I Got Good Jeans since the colors matched the shirt I was wearing, hah!  I liked how it turned out a lot, but its not something I think I would wear during the day time.  Also, sorry all of these pictures are inside with bathroom lighting or the flash since it was dark when I got ready :)

Wooo look at that dark blue.

Swatched on my arm...outside!

Flash to see the sheen

I can't keep my eyes open during a flash lol

Bathroom lighting

Different angle
Anywho--like I said, I like this and didn't have a hard time blending the dark blue in, which was good 'cause I wasn't tryin to look like a skank or anything.  The light blue brow bone shadow was a little TOO blue and I tried to wipe most of it off.  It's a lighter shade but it still gave off a barbie look I wasn't going for.  This color was also paired with the Lorac liner and same mascaras as the other one.

Overall I totally think these trios are worth the $3 you pay for them!  You can get Wet n Wild at pretty much any drug store and I found a ton of them at Five Below!  I'm hesitant to try the last two I bought 'cause they're not really "me" so it'll probably be a while before I test those out :)  I like that they come with a duster brush and a sponge applicator!  Like I said, those are the brushes I've been using 'cause I'm lazy and am not very good at makeup either way!

Let me know if you've tried either of these or are planning on it!  Hope you all had a super great weekend ;)

P.S. I also just noticed, but let's ignore the state of my eyebrows at this time! k thanks :)

Blue Iguana Ruffian!

So I decided to do my nails again before going out dancing with my ladiesss!

I've been wanting to try China Glaze's Blue Iguana for a while and thought I'd make it interesting with another ruffian since I LOVED how it turned out before with 108 Degrees!

I definitely love the pink more than the blue...and I super struggled with this manicure this time.  I've been real shaky lately, so I made more of a mess than last time and the silver was a bit hard to clean up as my remover brush just spread sparkles all over my fingers rather than removed them...OH well!  I still think it looks neat:

You can kind of see the sparkle everywhere!  But anyway, how I did this was I used my Sally Hansen Thickening Base Coat, covered with 2 coats of ORLY Shine, topped that with Seche Vite (in case I messed up the blue), then I had to do 3 coats of China Glaze Blue Iguana from their Island Escape Collection and then another top coat of SV!  Whew!

I somehow made some of Blue Iguana coats thinner than the others, which is why I had to do three coats to even them out.  It was runnier than I expected, but still a pretty good formula.  I also thought it'd be a shade darker, but it's all good! Overall I'm pretty happy with it.  I'll post outdoor sunny pictures sometime tomorrow or Sunday as the sun's already goin' down here in Ohio.  I wrapped the tips so hopefully it stays a few days!  I could probably dot some red on the silver and make it into a Memorial Day manicure :)  Maybe I'll do that for Sunday!!

The verdict is I like it!

I also want to mention that I tried Sally Hansen's Gel Cuticle Remover:

So far I've used it twice and I love it!  It's got Jojoba extra, antioxidant Kiwi Extract and Wheat Protein so it can smooth, nourish, and moisturize your cuticles all at once.  It makes it easier to push them back, it doesn't necessarily remove them.  I thought I'd try this instead of cutting my cuticles and I don't think I'll go back :)  You just put on a thin strip for a few mins, push your cuticles back, and wash it off!  Voila!  It says not to use more than twice a week, and so far I've done it once a week and it seems to work well the whole week.  Have you tried this?

Well loves, have a GREAT Memorial Day Weekend!

Up and Coming OPI's!

I don't normally do the official press release thing because I figure most of you who follow beauty blogs will hear about them through other bloggers. I also have ZERO idea where you guys actually find the press releases, 'cause I usually just get them from other people, hah. BUT I thought that since I *love* the colors coming out in the Nice Stems! and Serena Williams Glam Series, I would share them with you all!

First, the Nice Stems! Collection!

Press Release (Found at Opal Stevens):
Stop and see the flowers with summer’s Nice Stems! by OPI, a limited edition collection featuring four new nail lacquers in stunning shades of pink. With whimsical names based on their floral inspirations, these vibrant, flirty colors range from pale, frosty pink to rich fuchsia. Nice Stems! offers fingers and toes a perfectly pink shade for all of summer’s looks.

“These vibrant, feminine hues complement 60’s ladylike fashions, 70’s glam looks, and bold color-blocking, which are the season’s staples,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Nice Stems! collection also offers an interesting contrast and feminine accent to the punk and biker looks on the runways.”

“Using different micas and glitters can give lacquer a 3-dimensional look,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “I Lily Love You is a glitter coat that can be layered over any of the other three shades to add a bright sparkle; or, it can be worn on its own for a subtle tint of pink with strands of glitter.”
The Nice Stems! Nail Lacquers by OPI contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
This limited edition Nice Stems! collection will be available beginning June 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

The colors include:
Be a Dahlia Won't You?

Come to Poppy

I Lilly Love You

Play the Peonies

I love how they're named after flowers and they are all so pretty!  I definitely want this whole collection.  I could probably live without Play the Peonies, but if I see the whole thing, I may just have to get them all :)  Come to Poppy is my favorite!  One lucky winner can win this whole collection from Body and Soul's May Monthly Giveaway!  But HURRY because it ends tonight at midnight EST!

The other collection I want to talk about is additional colors from the Grand Slam! Collection from Serena Williams!

Press Release (from Blushing Noir):
OPI joins tennis superstar Serena Williams in announcing the latest three lacquers in the Glam Slam! collection. To celebrate the world’s oldest, most prestigious tennis tournament, Glam Slam! England features two duo-packs filled with sparkle.

The first Lacquer set includes Your Royal Shine-ness, a metallic silver shade, paired with Servin’ Up Sparkle, a shimmer-packed silver glitter. The second Lacquer set also features Servin’ Up Sparkle, along with Grape…Set…Match, a metallic purple.

“England’s premier tennis tournament warrants colors with extra glitz and glamour,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The next big trend in nails is making lacquer look 3-dimensional by adding different micas and glitters, turning fingertips into jewelry. With two bold metallics and a sparkling glitter, these colors are fit for royalty.”

“For stand-out nails, I love experimenting with different glitter shades,” explains Serena Williams. “The new Glam Slam! England lacquers can be worn alone for a bright pop of color, or layered with Servin’ Up Sparkle to create a textured effect.”

Serena Williams has received the World Number One in singles ranking by the Women’s Tennis Association on five separate occasions, along with being listed as sixth on the all-time greatest champions list. Additionally, she has won two Olympic gold medals in women’s doubles and has earned 27 Grand Slam titles to date. Serena is the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously and only the fifth woman in history to do so.

New shades in the Glam Slam! collection will be introduced to coincide with each of the four major tournaments, beginning with the Australian Open in January 2011, followed by launches in May 2011 for the French Open, June 2011 for Wimbledon and August 2011 for the US Open. As with all OPI Nail Lacquers, the Glam Slam! collection contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.

Glam Slam! England will be available beginning June 2011 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $14.95 ($20.95 CAN) suggested retail for each duo-pack.

The colors include:

Grape...Set...Match

Servin' up Sparkle

Your Royal Shine-ness

I really like these metallics!  I think I definitely need the purple.  I'd have to see a swatch of Your Royal Shine-ness 'cause it looks similar to ORLY Shine, which I just picked up--maybe a little darker.  I probably don't have to have it.  I'd like to see the sparkle in person, too!

How do you guys feel about these new collections??

Thanks for reading--and don't forget to keep entering my giveaway if you haven't yet!  I'll probably have a real post for you all later tonight or tomorrow morning :)

Double Pink Wednesday!! Ulta Polishes + Haul :)

Okay. So. I have a lot to say in this update.

I've reached 100 followers!!!! Woo hooo!!  I'm at 103--this is great!  I never ever thought in a million years that anyone would care or even read what I wrote here, so I'm SO beyond thrilled.  This makes me feel really good, guys, I appreciate each and every one of you and I love reading all your comments!

Now, I can finally tell you about my epic haul from last weekend!! Take a look:

Dum dum dum duuuummm!

So my BF Jenn sold me a bunch of Bath and Body Works stuff she had for super cheap!  I got two cute clip on air fresheners for my car, three lotions, a candle, two lip glosses, and some soap!  Then we hit up Ulta and I used two $5 off coupons, a 20% off coupon, the free ORLY coupon again and got all the polishes (Buy 2 get 2 free), and burt's bees stuff for $20!  Then I wanted to try the new Wet n Wild eye shadows so I stopped by CVS and got some of those.

I stocked up on my pinks for Pink Wednesdays by getting the ORLY Oh Cabana Boy, and Ulta Fuschiamania, Princess, and Heirhead (seen L to R on the bottom left).  The rest of the stuff I'll tell you in the next post right after this 'cause all the stuff in the right is part of my GIVEAWAY!!! YAY!!!

BUT for now, onto Pink Wednesday :)

I decided to try out Ulta's Heirhead, the light pink one in the picture!  I really liked it.  This was my first time using a non-glitter Ulta polish and I was impressed.  For how cheap you can get them (Buy 2 get 2 free is an AWESOME deal...that's 4 for $10...and if you use a $5 off coupon, it's 4 for $5!!), the formula is quite good.  Anyway, check it out:

Shade

Sun
I really liked this!  It didn't compliment my skin tone too well but the color is nice anyway.  It'll be good later in the summer I think.  This is three coats!  I like how smooth and opaque the polish is, I probably could've done just two!

Jenn came over today, too, and painted her nails with me!  She thought we could do a double Pink Wednesday and take some pics of hers too.  What she did was she combined the dark pink Ulta polish, Fuschiamania, with Zoya's Rica (Sunshine Collection)!  Looksie:

Fuschiamania by itself...it is a little more pink rather than red in person

I like how it turned out.  Zoyas are pretty opaque for glitters and normally overtake a base color but this combo looks really good in person.  Rica looks really orange-y normally by itself, so with a dark pink base it really brings out the pink in it.  She's so creative :)  And I liked having someone to paint my nails with today, it's usually just me!

Oh, and those pics of Jenn's nails are 2 coats Fuschiamania (it went on really opaque, if you were running out the door, you could go with 1 coat and be okay), and 1 coat of Rica!

Like I said before--super impressed with the Ulta formula.  I didn't think the "generic" polishes were going to be that good, but the cheap ones have been impressing me for a while!  I still love Sinful Colors, and when they're on sale for 99 cents, I take advantage of it!

Anywho, stay tuned for another post regarding my 100 follower giveaway!!

<3 Whitney

PS Jenn gave me a real cute idea for a nail polish "series"...I'll have to work it on in my head a bit, but I'm hoping to try something weekly like Pink Wednesday but allll me!

Zoya Kimmy and Giveaway Update!

Hey all!  Oh my gosh I can't believe I'm ONE person away from 100 followers!!  How exciting :) Hopefully tomorrow along with my Pink Wednesday post I'll be able to post pictures of my haul from last weekend and talk about my giveawayyyy!

I FINALLY took pictures today of Zoya Kimmy!  I think it's my favorite polish in my entire collection.  I've never been into the reds, but this color is so classic with just the right amount of sparkle and shine to it that it just makes me feel super foxxxy when I wear it, hah!  I think I'm going to have to buy another bottle of it.  Speaking of Zoya real quick, they are giving away a FREE polish today only from their Summer, Sunshine, and Mod Matte Collections with the code SUMMER1 on their website.  You have to pay S&H, which I personally don't think is worth it, but if you're already planning on buying from their site, you might as well go ahead and add a free one to your order!  I suggest Kimmy ;)

Outdoor, shade

Oooh Kimmy I love you

You can see the gold glitter undertone in this one
Zooming in lets you see the sparkle a bit better.  I just love this.  It's 3 coats, but you can get away with 2, and I've got Seche Vite on top.  I didn't wear a base coat this time.  Whoops.  I actually have been wearing Kimmy w/o a base coat since Saturday and it didn't really matter much (my nails are already a little stained from other polishes).  Actually, Zoya's don't stick to the base coat I normally wear anyway and peel off within a day, so it stayed better without the base coat!  This obviously isn't after that long of wear, I re-did Kimmy today so I could finally show you all.  I've worn it like 3 or 4 times since I got it!

Annnnnnnnnnd I wanted to do this today since I've seen quite a few other bloggers do it lately!  It's the ABCs of ME!

Pink Wednesday! Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Polish

Hey ladiesss.  I *finally* got a few minutes to paint my nails today.  Thank goodness...I broke three of them while they were bare for a few days..poop.  So I had to file them down a bit.  Lame sauce.

Anyway, I'm so so swamped for the next two weeks...at least until June 1st.  I'll probably be able to post once or twice before Sunday but after that I'm going to be MIA with things to finish up with my thesis and school.  Then I graduate with my Master's!! Weee :)

I was excited to try some of my new polishes, but I realized it was Pink Wednesday!!  I'm running out of pinks, actually!  I'm a little broke so I won't be buying polishes for a while.  Luckily, I found one of my older polishes I got from Victoria's Secret!  It's called Cocktail:

Outside, evening light

I like me some peachy pinks :)

I really like this.  The brush was a little wider than I thought, but it was thin so the polish didn't glob on.  The formula is actually pretty decent, it goes on real smooth!  I've only got one other VS polish, and I bought these during their semi annual sale a year or two ago for only like $2 or $3 bucks, which I consider a good deal.  This is with three coats--I could've used only 2 but I wanted an even coating, so I added the third!

Do you guys have any VS polishes?  I have to force myself not to go in there because I'm addicted, hah!  I *love* their Very Sexy Hair Shine Serum, definitely my favorite product there.

Well I'm out to catch up on my shows...I have Gossip Girl, Chuck, and Glee recorded!  So excited.  And by that I mean I'm "working" on my thesis defense presentation.  Woops :)

Have a good one guys!

<3Whit

China Glaze Senorita Bonita! + Some Holo Glitter!

Hey all! Glad Blogger is back up and working properly!  Hope things run a little bit more smooth around here now...

Annyyyway, this week I decided to try Senorita Bonita for the first time!  Right after I took off my ruffian I had it on there for a few days but didn't have time to blog about it.  I postponed it due to Pink Wednesday and now I feel I should update with it!

Senorita Bonita is such an "in your face" purple--my bf loved it, but he likes obnoxiously bright colors sometimes.  I thought my skin tone was a little bit pasty to work it properly, but I think when I'm tan for my best friends wedding next month, I'll bust it out again (their color is purple!).

I believe this is three coats, it went on pretty well!  These pictures are actually after 2 days of wear because there was no sun.  You can tell it's been worn, but the color is still pretty.

Woah tip wear, I should probably start wrapping my tips, whoops.

What do you guys think?  I wanted to try it with the ruffian, too, haha.  I'm addicted now.  I DO like it.  Purple just doesn't look good with my skin sometimes!

Anyway, after a few days I got tired of it and added a glitter on top of it.  I went to Icing (aka Claire's) and bought these two polishes: an awesome silver holo glitter and one of their mood polishes:

Mood Swing Stormy/Serene and Glamorous!

I decided to try the glitter on top of the purple.  This is two coats.  I kind of hate it with the purple base, but it would probably look good on its on or on top of a lighter color:

blurred for holo effectiveness :)

Anyway I hope you all have a great weekend!  My AC broke in my apartment so it's been over 80 in there all week.  We've been having the roughest time getting it fixed, too.  I think we're going to have to deposit our rent with the municipal court, actually--so lame.  I'm really pissed about it.  It got up to 88 last night so I called emergency maintenance and they refused to forward the call and send someone out because it was "only 79 degrees" outside instead of the 80 degrees required for it to be an emergency.  What kind of BS is that?!

Okay.  Done venting!  I'm going to be super busy this week but I hope to get a few posts in!  School's almost over, just about 3 weeks left and I am home free!  And hopefully employed..

<3 Whit

P.S. updated the giveaways on my sidebar, there's some really great ones ending within a week, so be sure to check them out!  And check out other great giveaways here!
